System Engineer

The refit department of VBH is looking for an experience AV/IT System Engineer. Together with the Project Manager, Refit Specialists and Site Manager you will make a conceptual design of the AV, IT, Comms and Security systems. Then you will be responsible for translating the system concepts into the complete detailed engineering package. As System Engineer, you will work on cable lay outs, as-built drawings and installation details in CAD software. You will be working on projects and, if necessary, occasionally you will assist on site, this is often outside the Netherlands.

In this position you will be working closely together with the Project Manager and/or Senior System Engineer. For consult and detailed knowledge you can consult our specialists. Your main work location is our office in Amsterdam.

What are you going to do?

• Making the definitive system design (AV, IT, Comms, Security etc.), and determining the parameters regarding functionality, effectiveness and issues required further attention
• Work on cable lay outs and installation details
• Integration of several different subsystems such as lighting management systems, IT, Climate Control, AMCS
• Discuss project planning with Project Manager and/or Senior System Engineer and communicate required resources for coming to an adequate design
• Signal new developments, inform Senior System Engineer in this regard and consider new products through further discussion
• Translate functional descriptions to the technical system design
• Ensure optimal technical installation and integration

 What do you bring along with you?

• Secondary education level 3 (MBO3) or higher
• Preferably 3-5 years relevant experience
• A personal interest or knowledge in Audio, AV/IT systems and integration of systems
• Experience with CAD software drawing is a plus
• Flexible working attitude
• Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English in speaking and writing
• Stress resistant, driven and highly motivated
• Willingness to travel (visiting the shipyard during the start-up phase as well as during consultation requests)
